What Does "Sign a Message" Mean? Wallet Sign-In Explained
By Oddrix ·
Some features on Oddrix, such as the affiliate dashboard, watchlist alerts and Founding 50 applications, ask you to sign in with your wallet. There is no password and no email. Your wallet signs a short text message, and the site checks the signature against your public address.
Signing a message is not a transaction
A message signature cannot move funds, approve tokens or cost gas. It simply proves that whoever controls the address agreed to the text. Your wallet shows the text in plain words before you sign.
What a safe sign-in message looks like
Oddrix uses the Sign-In with Ethereum format (EIP-4361) on EVM wallets and an equivalent plain-text message on Solana. It contains:
- the website domain (
oddrix.fun), so a phishing site cannot reuse it, - your address,
- a one-time random nonce that expires after 10 minutes,
- the time it was issued.
Red flags
- A "message" that is actually unreadable hex or a typed-data permit. Permits can authorise token spending.
- A domain in the message that does not match the site in your address bar.
- Any site or person asking for your seed phrase or private key. Never share those words with anyone.
Signing out
Your session is stored in a secure, HttpOnly cookie for 7 days. You can sign out of one device or every device from your dashboard.
FAQ
Does signing in with my wallet cost anything?
No. Signing a message is free and does not send a transaction.
Can Oddrix move my funds after I sign in?
No. A sign-in signature cannot authorise transfers. Every transaction still needs your separate approval in the wallet.
Not financial advice. Crypto is volatile and you can lose money. Oddrix never holds your funds or keys.
